DIY Decorative Hood Range Vent

Cut a 1″ x 4″ to fit across the front of the hood. Miter the corners. Attach the front of the support frame with glue and small cabinet screws. (Pre-drilling holes for the screws is a good idea.) Measure and cut a 2″ x 4″ to fit between the cabinets. This will be blocking and support for the range hood face frame.

Simple Details diy metal range hood...

I cut down two matching pieces of wood that would become the sides of the vent hood. At the top I nailed in a 1x2 that I was going to use to secure these pieces into the ceiling: As you can see, I left some space (the thickness of the boards I was using) at the front of each piece.
